Earlier today, the Universal Blog announced that an immersive paranormal virtual reality experience is coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2016.
“I am ecstatic to announce a cutting-edge, terrifying virtual reality experience is coming to Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights” says TJ Mannarino, Senior Director of Art & Design for Universal Orlando. “This is one of the most electrifying Halloween Horror Nights’ projects I’ve ever worked on – primarily because it is the culmination of 8 years of experimental story-telling, drawing on feedback from our vast HHN audience to learn what thrills and chills them the most.”
The new experience has been named “The Repository” and will play on guests’ most personal and intimate fears as they work in groups of four to uncover a paranormal mystery, all while encountering real-life characters in highly themed physical environments.
Guests will enter a centuries old warehouse where paranormal and supernatural artifacts have been collected and stored for hundreds of years. The backstory for this new attraction follows a secretive organization that has installed state-of-the-art technology that allows spectral transportation into paranormal realms.
This experience will have an upgraded price from a normal Halloween Horror Nights ticket, adding $49.99 plus tax per person. It will be available during all Halloween Horror Nights events beginning Sept. 29 and running through Oct. 31.
Halloween Horror Nights has continued to push the bar on halloween themed attractions, winning Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket for Best Halloween Event 8 years in a row! Needless to say, we’re excited to get out there and experience it again this year.
